The ongoing Population and Housing Census in the Volta region has covered at least 93 per cent of households as the end of the second week of the enumeration exercise.

This was made known by Mr. Chris Amewu, the Regional Director of the Ghana Statistical Service,  the lead agency for the Census.

He told the media, the exercise has largely been smooth across all 18 districts of the region, with the first week recording 63 per cent coverage.

He mentioned,  the slow running  of the enumeration devices (the CAPI tablets),  poor network connectivity in some areas for transfer of data from the tablets, and the unwillingness of some respondents to answer the questions, as some challenges encountered by enumerators  at the initial stage the exercise.

That notwithstanding, the Regional Census officer said the exercise has been successful, even as they work to cover the  remaining seven per cent of households during the mop up exercise, which ends on Sunday, July 18, 2021.

He thus, entreated persons who are yet to be enumerated to contact their District Census Officers or  call 0208373104 for assistance.
