The Volta regional chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. John Peter Amewu has sent a word of caution to the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the region that; members of the NPP will not be intimidated by their (NDC) machinations against them.
According to him, the NPP will march the NDC ‘boot-for-boot’ should the later attempt to disrupt NPP activities in the region.
“This country do not belong to them, I’m sounding a caution to them, that the new crop of executives we have here headed by myself John Peter Amewu, we cannot be intimidated, if they dare we’ll march them boot-for-boot”
Mr. Amewu was speaking to the media after a planned lecture to be delivered by the party’s vice presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to tertiary students at the Ho Polytechnic auditorium Friday evening was called off.
Despite, the massive turnout of students from various tertiary institutions within Ho municipality, the former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana failed to turn up at the venue, to the disappointment of many.

Despite, the massive turnout of students from various tertiary institutions within Ho municipality, the former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana failed to turn up at the venue, to the disappointment of many.
Explaining reasons for his ‘no show’, the NPP regional chairman said, security intelligence picked by the party executives prior to the start of the programme pointed to a supposed planned moves by some elements of the NDC to disrupt the lecture, following an earlier demonstration by a youth group at Akatsi where Dr. Bawumia went to meet with trainees of the Akatsi College of Education. A situation, he said necessitated Dr. Bawumia’s return to Accra, in move to avoid any confrontations between the supporters and the supposed NDC group.
The Public Relations Officer of the Ho Poly chapter of the NPP students’ wing, Obikeyenbi Stephen in an earlier interview, accused by their colleagues of the NDC for the planned disruption, which is a supposed retaliation to what happened to government officials at the Wesley College of Education in Kumasi, an allegation the NDC students’ wing flatly denied
Abdul Hakim, immediate past President of Ho Poly NDC, explained that, he only came to the venue with his colleagues to listen to the lecture but not to cause any commotion.
A position, Mr. Amewu seem to vindicate, saying “the students never plan to do anything bad at all, these are people organised from outside the campus to disrupt the programme… this is a typical NDC aggressive corrupted strategy to demonstrate that the people in this region don’t know what is right.”
Police personnel who were at the venue to ensure law and order, subsequently arrested a youngman for allegedly carrying knives on him.
