The Ghana Police Service has stated that due to the upsurge of Corona virus cases in the Country,  they can no longer provide protection to residents of Sokode to embark on their intended demonstration Today, January 27.

Sokode communities have intended to embark on a peaceful protest march to register their displeasure about the inability of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) to provide them with water for the past months amidst the upsurge in the cases of Corona Virus in the Region.

The Sokode Communities such as Etoe, Bagble and Gborgame communities over the years have been  facing acute water shortage  as efforts to get a possible solution to the problem never seen the light of day till today

Amidst the Covid-19 pandemic where constant hand washing is required from citizens to curb the spread of the corona virus, these communities are still finding it very difficult to adhere to this hand-washing safety protocol.

Meanwhile, Ghana  Police service among several reasons  stated that they are busily enforcing the President’s  directive to arrest  those who fail to adhere to Covid 19 protocols especially on wearing of Nose  Mask.

They therefore  called on Residents to suspend the intended protest and if possible, shift it to another day.
