The Agbogbomefia of Asogli, Togbe Afede XIV, has highly commended the management of Stanbic Bank Ghana for their generous support to the Asogli State over the years. According to him, the bank has been a consistent donor to the cause of the traditional area, especially towards the annual Asogli Te Za (Yam Festival) celebrations and the Asogli Education Fund.
Togbe Afede gave the commendation on Saturday, September 2, 2023, when officials of Stanbic Bank, led by Mr. Mawuko Afadzenu, Director of Corporate Communications and Marketing, paid a courtesy call on the traditional leaders in Ho.
The delegation presented a cheque for GH₵50,000 to support the Asogli Education Fund and GH₵30,000 towards the celebration of this year’s festival and the 20th anniversary of Togbe Afede’s enstoolment.
Responding to the gesture, the former president of the National House of Chiefs applauded the bank for its contribution towards cultural and tourism development.
He added that the donation would aid in the development of the area, as this year’s festival would be used to raise awareness about climate change and promote tourism, among other objectives.
“I have a very good relationship with Stanbic, from the days of your founding MD to the current one. This relationship transcends personal to business, and I’m glad that you are among the first to have responded positively to our request for support towards this year’s celebration,” Togbe stated.
Mr. Kojo Larbi, Communications Manager at the bank, congratulated the revered traditional leader on the 20th anniversary of his enstoolment and assured him of the bank’s involvement in the celebrations. He commended the traditional authorities for how well they have rebranded the festival, which has become a major feature on the country’s tourism calendar.
“The Asogli Te Za has become a major feature on the tourism calendar, and as a brand that supports community initiatives promoting tourism and culture, it is appropriate for us to come and show our support towards this year’s festival,” Mr. Larbi stated.
He added that the donation towards the education fund was part of the bank’s efforts to promote science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education in the country.
The 2023 Asogli Yam Festival celebration is themed “20 years of selfless and inspiring leadership.”
