BY: KOD I Voltaonlinegh.com |

The Rebecca Foundation has re-built and commissioned the Adetim D/A KG. and Primary School in the Upper West Akim District of the Eastern Region after the project was abandoned for twenty- nine (29) years by previous governments.

Re-construction of the facility by the Rebecca Foundation which started in August, 2020 re-replaces the 29 year old half-completed one classroom block school and now has a six-unit classroom block to accommodate class1-6 pupils, two classrooms for Kindergarten, a headmaster’s office and toilet facilities for both pupils and staff of the school.

Commissioning the Facility on behalf of the First Lady, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo who is also Executive Director of the Rebecca Foundation, Press Aide at the Office of the First Lady, Mr. Richard Darko said the completion and commissioning of the facility by the Rebecca Foundation follows an appeal by the Chiefs and people of Adetim to the First Lady to assist in the completion of the project which had been abandoned by previous governments since 1992.

Mr. Darko said the First Lady, through the Rebecca Foundation is determined to assist government in its quest to provide accessible quality education to all who require it and has since its establishment in 2017 constructed several infrastructure including schools and libraries across the country in that regard.

On behalf of Mrs. Akufo-Addo, he urged the chiefs and leaders in the community to patronise the educational facilities in their community by ensuring that their wards go to school, and pay frequent visits to the library.

Expressing his gratitude to Mrs. Akufo-Addo for her gesture, DCE of Upper West Akim District Hon. Eugene Sackey said though the NPP government since assuming office has been working hard to provide education infrastructure in the district including the Adeiso, Presby KG and Primary School, and the Kwasi Nyarko JHS, benevolent efforts as exemplified by the First Lady also goes a long way to compliment government’s efforts in providing quality education for her citizenry.

On his part, Chief of Adetim Nana Sekyere said he still recollects the poor state of the school for several years with little expectation of it ever being completed, and expressed optimism that the reconstruction and expansion of the school’s facilities will enable it admit more pupils than before, to the benefit the people of Adetim and its environs. He promised to continue to drum home on the need for education as the principal tool to open the gate of enlightenment and wealth creation.

Also present to witness the commissioning were officials from the Office of the First Lady, and the Ghana Education Service.
