District Chief Executive (DCE) of the South Tongu District Assembly, Hon. Emmanuel Louis Agama, has handed over a 18NO. Shower Points and 12NO. Water Closets Toilet facility to St. Catherine Senior High School at Agbakope.
The facility is aimed at providing a comfortable washrooms and bathrooms to students in the school to enhance teaching and learning activities.
The project which was awarded to WONDERSON LTD and BOCADO SERVICES LIMITED at an estimate cost of Ghc 182,750.93 commenced in February, 2016 and completed in February, 2021.
The facility funded by District Development Facility (DDF) consisted of 18No. Shower Points, 12No. Water Closets Toilet, 1No. Urinal, 1No. Store for Sanitary tools, Plastic T&G Ceiling in Room and Eaves, Plastic Louvre carries and glasses, Pre-Coated Roofing sheets, 2No. Overhead Water Tanks, Floor and Wall tiles, Plumbing Installations, Painting works and Apron, Septic tank, Soak away and Installation Chambers.
Addressing the gathering during the handing over ceremony, Mr. Agama said one of his objectives for becoming the DCE for the area is to improve upon quality education by providing the necessary facilities schools in the District need and since St. Catherine Senior High School is a girls school, much attention must be given to them.
He charged the School Authorities to ensure that the students take good care of the facility.
Madam Evelyn Araba Zentey, the District Director of Education for South Tongu District, thanked the DCE and the South Tongu District Assembly for their numerous supports given to the educational sector in the area.
She urged the contractors to be abreast with time when contracts are awarded to them because she realized that some of the contractors take money for project but they refused to complete the work within the time frame, a situation she said is becoming very alarming.
Madam Helen Avevor, the Headmistress of St. Catherine Senior High School also expressed gratitude to the DCE for his kind gesture.
She noted that 10 years ago, with students enrollment of 77, many facilities currently in the school was not there at that time but now, they can boast of several projects in the school, a development she said contributed to the current student enrollment of 1,002.
