The South Tongu District Assembly has handed over a 6-Unit Classroom Block with Ancillary facility to Sogakope D/A Primary C school to enable them have access to good and quality education in the area.
The Ghc 419, 655.50 project funded by Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGHSP) started in March 26, 2019 and completed in July, 2020.
The facility consisted of 1No. 6-Unit Classroom, Teachers Staff Common Room, Head Teacher’s Office, Store Room Rain harvesting System with Poly-tank stand, Electrical Installation and with Disability Ramp/Step making it disability friendly.
Hon. Emmanuel Louis Agama, District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area in his inaugural speech noted that the Headmistress and Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) wrote a letter to him when he resumed office as the DCE regarding the dilapidated nature of the old classrooms.
He said, upon hearing their plights, he spoke with a friend who gave him a hint that the Japanese Government can be of help if he writes a proposal to them which he did with his team at the assembly.
He further disclosed that the Government of Japan was supposed to build such project in 5 district across the country so he saw the need and lobbied for South Tongu to also benefit from it.
He added that, the warm welcome extended by pupils of the school to delegates sent to check on the challenge gave them the opportunity to benefit from the new classroom block.
He charged the School Authorities to put to good use what has been given to them and ensure that they take care of it to last.
Madam Evelyn Araba Zentey, South Tongu District Director of Education commended the DCE for the initiative and ask him to continue with his good works so that teaching and learning can be more comfortable, productive and result oriented in the area.
She promised to ensure that the School Authorities practice good maintenance culture in maintaining the facility.
