Information gathered by VoltaOnline indicates that a total of 279 applications have been received for the positions of Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the Volta Region.
The applications were submitted from 18 districts, with North Tongu receiving the highest number of applications at 40, followed by Central Tongu with 27, and Ho Central with 22.
Below the breakdown of applications received from each district:
- Adaklu: 8, Afadjato South: 17, Agotime Ziope: 8,Akatsi North: 4, Akatsi South: 6, Anlo: 19, Central Tongu: 27, South Tongu: 13, North Tongu: 40, Ho Central: 22, Ho, West: 15, Hohoe: 14, Ketu South: 17, Ketu North: 13, Keta: 15, Kpando: 10, North Dayi: 18, South Dayi: 13
The applications will be vetted by the Regional Vetting Committee, which is expected to shortlist three qualified candidates per each district for further consideration by the President.
The vetting process, according to a directive from the NDC General Secretary, will consider factors such as proof of party membership, constitutional requirements, customary, geographical, and ethnic balance, as well as competence and experience.
