Aspiring Parliamentary candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ketu South Constituency of the Volta Region, David Tiahno Quarshie is calling on delegates in the constituency to endorse his candidature to pull a surprise in the 2020 general elections.
Mr. Quarshie said a vote for him would mean an end to the long reign of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the constituency considered as “World Bank” of the “World Bank” (Volta Region) of the NDC.
The businessman and poultry farmer who picked and filed his nomination form on Friday, July 26 said he “is the sure bid for the NPP in the upcoming 2020 elections” and “the best and the very solid choice of the voting masses” that would deliver victory for the NPP.
Speaking to Voltaonlinegh, Mr. Quarshie said he had the clout, the exposure and the track record and asked delegates in the orphan constituency (constituency without a sitting NPP Parliamentarian) to consider his works and give him the nod in the party’s primaries on September 28.
According to him, having risen from the position of a polling station Chairman to an electoral area Coordinator, Victory 2016 (V-16) Coordinator and a member of the Finance Committee from 2012 till date, he believed he had what was needed to be given the nod.
Mr. Quarshie fell on various contributions he made in the party and for people in the constituency which according to him, increased the electoral fortunes of the party during the 2016 general elections and argued that he would not only increase the votes in 2020 but wrestle power from the NDC candidate.
Such contributions included purchasing and branding Toyota Tundra Pick Up for use, printing over 2500 party branded Lacostes for members, supporting some schoolchildren with uniforms, supplying maize seeds to selected farmers, organising football galas and organising vocational training in liquid soap and bead production to impact lives.
Others were helping to fund two major party rallies and the inauguration of the well planned V-16 initiative which were attended by NPP bigwigs from the regional and national levels including the then Presidential candidate and the Vice, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and helping the communications team in the performance of their functions.
According to the aspiring Parliamentary candidate, he “represents hard work, a win for the NPP” adding, “I am incorruptible and easy going for the job as I am loved even by my opponents because of my hard works.”
