President-Elect John Dramani Mahama has delivered a heartfelt acceptance speech, preaching hope and unity to Ghanaians as he prepares to lead the country.
Mr. Mahama thanked the Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson for declaring him the winner and praised God for his victory.He also commended Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for conceding defeat, which helped ease tensions during the wait for the election results.
Delivering his victory speech on Monday night, after the EC declared him winner of the presidential polls, the President-Elect announced that he had spoken with President Akufo-Addo, and they agreed to form a joint transition team as early as December 11, 2024.
Mr. Mahama’s speech also highlighted the significance of his victory, noting that it marked one of the most emphatic wins in Ghana’s history. He underscored the need for unity, stating that Ghana belongs to all its citizens, regardless of their background or ethnicity. He pledged to restore the country’s image, which he believes has been tarnished by the current government.
The President-Elect further urged Ghanaians to remain hopeful, as he emphasized the importance of working together to create a better future for all Ghanaians.
