The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Keta and Parliamentary aspirant of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Keta Constituency of the Volta Region, Godwin Edudzi Effah is hopeful that his party will end the dominance of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the area in the 2020 general elections.
Mr. Effah said, “the time has come for the NPP to take the Parliamentary position from the NDC to lobby for developmental projects for the people of Keta.”
The MCE made this known when he submitted his nomination form at the party office in Keta after satisfying requirements to contest the upcoming Parliamentary primaries of the party.
He noted that the NDC has been ruling in Keta since 1992 but the Keta Municipality has since not seen enough development under their leadership hence his move to contest for the Parliamentary seat for the municipality to ensure the needed development.
He called on the people in the area especially women and the youth to vote for him as their Member of Parliament (MP) to change the trend in the constituency and lobby for developmental projects.
The aspiring Parliamentary candidate who is being contested by one other candidate said when given the opportunity to represent the people in Parliament, he would focus on issues such as development of the youth, education, agriculture and employment.
Mr. Effah said as an MP for the area, he would lobby for two tractors for the people of Wego, fertilisers and seedlings for farmers in the constituency adding that he would lobby for more educational materials and infrastructure for the various schools currently lacking them to raise the standard of education in the municipality.
According to him, he was on a mission to develop the municipality as the MCE and was among other things, working on deploying more security personnel to the municipality to increase police visibility to help in fighting and detecting crime thereby ensuring peace and security.
He therefore asked people to endorse him as the MP for the area to continue the work he started and do even more in the interest of Keta.
