The Ho Card Clubs Association (HOCCA) on Sunday, April 14, 2019 will hold an Awards ceremony League at the Ho Municipal Assembly Hall from 3pm to reward deserving clubs at the just ended maiden edition of Ho Card League.
The 16-club league with home and away matches which came to an end on Sunday, March 9 saw clubs like Amenuveve Card Club, Apito Power Club, Atomic Card Club, Bankoe All Stars, Bazuka Card Club, and City Power participate.
Others included Freedom Stars, Golden Stars, Heve All Stars, Mighty Hands and Peace Youth.
The rest were Reggae Card Club, Showboyz Card Club, Sunset Card Club, Casino Card Club and Victory Card Club.
Chairman of HOCCA, Innocent Kodzo Dey told this reporter (TalksenseSports) that the Awards would also be used to announce the existence of Ho Card Clubs Association which was formed on November 11, 2017 to the general public.
“The essence of the Awards is to inform the public about playing cards. We have heard of people playing football, netball, handball, volleyball, tennis and others in the region. Most people are aware of all these events but never heard of playing cards. We therefore want to be recognised as a serious sporting association.”
The Awards on Sunday will see a presentation of trophy and a cash prize of Gh₵1000.00 to winners with the 1st and 2nd runner ups also taking home wonderful prizes.
The Awards is expected to see in attendance the Deputy Regional Minister, Ho Municipal Chief Executive, Regional Sports Director, Chairman of the Ghana Journalists Association as well as the Sports Writers Association of Ghana-Volta.
Political bigwigs in the Volta Region as well as traditional rulers are also expected to grace the occasion.
