Some residents of Tetekope, a community in the Keta Municipality, has called on stakeholders to put stop to an ongoing tower project in the community.
This project according to them serves as a threat to their safety and general wellbeing.
Mr. Eric Lumor, a resident of the area stated that thorough neighborhood consent was not sort prior to the commencement of the project.
Aside that, he said the distant between the construction site and houses nearby are fifteen and twenty feet from both sides hence projecting danger in the near future should the tower fall.
He added that the safety of residents in the community should be duly considered therefore the call on stakeholders to halt the ongoing project.
Mr. Eric Lumor explained that the radiation from the network tower could also affect the health of residents.
In a discussion with Mr. Glate Mawuli and Mr. Gamor Felix, who identified themselves as those in-charge of the project under the construction company A.T.C Ghana, they indicated that the various issues raised by the residents are not true.
Mr. Gamor Felix reiterated that issues of radiation as indicated by residents is unlikely to pose health threats.
He added that the company has undergone the required procedures with the Environmental Protection Agency, the National Communication Authority as well as other relevant offices in the Keta Municipality.
He indicated that the company would not have been given the nod to commence work should assessments prove otherwise.
Speaking with Hon Benjamin Dzordzorme, Assemblyman for the area, he shared same plights of the residents, adding that he has however made enough inquiry into the issue.
Mr. Dzordzorme stated that measures would be put in place to highlight the plight of the residents before the various stakeholders in the community.
He also urged the residents to ensure peace in the community as he works to meet the initiators of the project for further discussion on the issue
