The National Director of World Vision, Mr. Dickens Thunde has advised the people of Dika, a community in the Kadjeibi District of the Oti region to concentrate on educating their children rather than forcing them into marriages.

He said this during commissioning of a six classroom block with ancillary facilities donated by World Vision to the community.

”We have a vision statement, thus, for every child, not only one but every child life in its fullest, not just in the area of education,  but our prayer for every heart, the will to make it soft,” he stated.

 He announced that the organization has invested close to $1.5 million in the past nine years to support school in Kadjeibi with school infrastructure, training of teachers, providing teaching and recreational materials and water and sanitation facilities for schools which have positively impacted the delivery of quality education.

 He further stated that the construction of the facility for Dika community was timely and World Vision has it at heart to ensure all children in the community get access to quality education and also help in poverty alleviation.

The classroom project comprises an office, staff common room, stores, eight-seater KVIP toilet with urinals and changing rooms.

Madam Milicent Darker, who spoke on behalf of the Oti Regional Education Director, Madam Afua Amefugah said the resources towards Education should not come from government alone but all organisations.

According her, World Vision has over the years contributed immensely to the development of the country, for which they deserve commendation.

 The District Chief Executive of Kadjebi, Maxwell Kofi Aseidu thanked World Vision for the kind gesture, and disclosed that the cost involved in building an edifice like what the Organization has donated was too much for the District Assembly to have afforded.

Dr. Grace Lolor Abena Bonuedi, the Kadjeibi District Education Director advised the citizens to take good care of the facility to ensure its life span.  She urged the school children to study hard to affirm the construction of the school block by the organization.

The World Vision, Nkwanta Cluster Manager, Mrs. Salomey Yeboah under whose supervision the project was started and commissioned encouraged parents to empower their wards by providing them with quality education.

“Education is a tool in shaping the future our children and parents must give their wards the best of education since their future depended on the quality of education we give them,” Mrs. Yeboah.

The Chief of Dika, Chief Tanko Seidu on behalf of his people, expressed appreciation to World Vision for the kind gesture and promised to take good care of the facility and also ensure that it serve its purpose.
