It was a spirit-filled evening of great choral music and dance in the serene ambiance of beaming Christmas lights across the swimming pool at the Volta Serene Hotel in Ho on Saturday. The occasion was the Serene Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols to usher in the yuletide.

Treated to the melodious voices of Symphonials, VV Choir, and Serene Choir, patrons embraced the festive spirit through the rich blend of Christmas carols and indigenous choral songs, interspersed with the reading of the nine biblical lessons on the birth of Jesus Christ.

The Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa, took the first lesson, with Prof. Lydia Aziato, Vice-Chancellor of UHAS, and Dr. Eric Seddy Kutortse, Executive Chairman of the First Sky Group (parent company of Volta Serene), taking the seventh and ninth lessons, respectively.

Rev. Fr. John Peter Agagee, the Financial Administrator of Ho Catholic Diocese, gave an exhortation on Christmas, reflecting on the unconditional love of God towards humanity when He sent His son to reconcile sinful humanity to Himself. He underscored the annual celebration as an invitation to turn to the Father, embrace new lives in Jesus Christ, and seek repentance.

Reflecting on the evening’s theme, “Peace on earth, and Goodwill to all men,” drawn from Luke 2:14, Mrs. Rhoda Ashiabi, CEO of Volta Serene Hotel, encouraged Christians to embody the spirit of Christmas in their lives. In anticipation of the crucial 2024 general elections, she also called for preservation of country’s peace and fostering goodwill among the people.

Mr. Stevie Derrick Armah, the General Manager of Volta Serene Hotel, shed light on the hotel’s substantial corporate social responsibility in 2023, totaling over GhC800,000. The initiatives ranged from providing relief support to Akosombo Dam spillage flood victims to offering educational and health support. Notably, the hotel sponsored a medical student who successfully completed her studies at the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) this year.

Meanwhile, the hotel has announced an array of activities for the Christmas festivities. These include, family tour and games,  all white dinner party, among others.
