Volta Security Services Ready for Election 2020

The Volta regional Public Relations Officer PRO of the Ghana Police Service Cpl Prince Dogbatse has assured residents of the Volta region of their safety before, during and after the December 2020 election.

He made the statement on behalf of the security services in the Volta region at the end of a route march by the security services in the region in conjunction with the Electoral Commission, National Commission for Civic Education and National Ambulance service ahead of the December 2020 election.

He noted that the route march duped “operation Tafia Lafia” was to send a signal to the public that the security services are ready to protect the citizens, integrity and peace of the country before, during and after the election.

He noted that, “security is not only about the police. We are ready and that is what we demonstrated to the public today through the route march to send a signal that no one should cause trouble.”

Responding to the issue on the deployment of personnel to the region to put fear and panic in the citizens, he explained that the personnel who embark on the “operation Tafia Lafia” are all from the regional capital specifically and their mission was to call for peaceful election and to reassure the citizenry of their safety but not to cause fear and panic among the citizenry.

Cpl Dogbatse however cautioned the public against activities that will jeopardize the smooth operation of the election procedures as well as destruction of life and property.

Over 500 security personnel from the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana Armed Forces, Ghana Prisons Service, National Fire Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, the National Intelligence Bureau together with the National Ambulance Service took part in the “operation Tafia Lafia” route March in the Volta regional capital, Ho.

The march which started from the Jubilee Park – Ho Tech Univ – Ahoe Roundabt – KK House Traffic – Guinness Ltd – Tralfagar Junction- Redeem Church Junction- Barracks Road – Lizzdee Shopping Mall Junction- Zongo- Royal Hosp Junction- Market Road- Ola Traffic- Civic Centre- VRCC- CEPS Traffic- Goil Junction- Sokodie Road – UHAS Roundabout – Gbogame Roundabout, ended at the  Police Regional Headquarters.
