Shocker! Deputy Minister, Two MCEs, Lost NPP Primaries

By: KALD | Voltaonlinegh.com |

The just ended parliamentary primaries of the governing New Patriotic Party  (NPP) has produced some major casualties in the Volta and Oti regions.

Key among them were, the Deputy Minister for the Oti region, Mr. Maxwell Blagodzi, Keta MCE, Godwin Edudzi Effah and his Ketu South counterpart, Elliot Agbenorwu who shockingly lost in their bid to lead the party into the 2020 parliamentary elections.

Mr. Blagodzi who contested in the Nkwanta South primaries lost with 27 votes to madam Sherifa Tijanni.

He polled 262 as against Tijanni’s 289 votes, with a third contender, Durinya managing some 27 votes.

In the Ketu South  contest, the MCE suffered a near annihilation, as he polled less than half of the total votes of the winner, Mr. David Tiahno, who had 689 as against the his (MCE) 332 votes.
A third contender, madam Judith Ayivi also  secured just 31 votes.

Defeated, Ketu South MCE, Elliot Agbenorwu

The situation was not different in the Keta constituency, where the MCE, Mr. Edudzi Effah lost to Dr. Benjamin Dzameshie,  with 163 and 270 votes respectively.

Victories

There was however  a glimpse of joy for some of the local chief executives, as they fend off competition to win their primaries.

One of such was the DCE for North Dayi Edmund Kudjoe Attah who beat his sole contender convincingly with 299 votes against Christian Koku’s 52.
