Volta Region’s foremost indigenous musician, Israel Maweta, has ushered in the new year of 2024 with the release of his 19th solo album, titled ‘Amenuveve’ (Grace), aimed to captivate and entertain his fans.
The latest album, launched on January 5, features eight solid, soul-inspiring tracks, including remixes of two of his popular songs, ‘Woewoe’ and ‘Zikpoo,’ featuring gospel sensation and producer, Nacee.
Executively produced by Publicist Elorm Beenie, MediaBiz Communications, and Maweta himself, the album is already creating ripples across digital channels, with fans enthusiastically embracing the new repertoire on social media.
Prior to the album release, the production team hosted an unprecedented private listening session for selected industry stakeholders, including DJs, On-Air Personalities, Influencers, and other creatives in Ho.
Reflecting on the session, Elorm Beenie described it as a groundbreaking event in the region that sets the stage for other artistes to flourish. He noted that hosting such events in various regions could catalyse a shift in the creative industry to ensure a decentralised approach to promoting musical talents nationwide. He further highlighted the importance of artistes not feeling compelled to strive solely for national recognition to be considered “mainstream,” advocating for a narrative that appreciates artistic contributions from diverse regions.
Israel Maweta has long been a household name in the Volta Region and other Ewe-dominated areas across Ghana, Togo, and Benin, thanks to his captivating indigenous traditional music style that transcends genres. With a discography spanning 25 years, he proudly boasts 23 albums and 4 singles.
In recent years, the iconic musician has collaborated with Elorm Beenie to digitise his collections, making them accessible to audiences globally through various music streaming platforms.
