Search conducted in the Ketu North Municipal capital reveal that, traders in the Dzodze market have totally disregarded the Covid-19 safety protocols despite the increasing number of active cases in the Region.
There was a total disregard to the social distancing protocols as traders go about their normal duties with few of them wearing their nose masks.
Preventive equipment such as Veronica buckets, soaps, tissue papers and hand sanitizers at the designated hand washing places in the market are missing as patrons who come to the market go about their activities normally.
Speaking to some traders at the market, they said, they do not believe Covid-19 still exist in the country hence no need for nose mask.
Some also noted that, they are aware of the virus but not aware of the recent spike.
In the Dzodze township, Motor riders, drivers, hawkers and some residents go about their activities without nose masks and the few who had it on were also not wearing it properly as some placed it in their bags or under their chin.
Meanwhile the Dzodze District Police Command has embarked on special operations on nose masks wearing in line with the president’s directive to the Inspector General of Police
The Police Service is therefore entreating all persons to wear the masks when stepping out of their homes.
